The Portola Garden Tour
September 26th, 2026 10am-3pm
Join us on the 20th anniversay of the annual tour of gardens in the Portola District of southeastern San Francisco.
What to expect
If you purchase a ticket to the tour, you will receive access to gardens and garden related sites, most of them private. On the morning of the tour, you will receive an email with a link to a map identifying all sites on the tour and a little information about each. Or, if you choose, you will be able to pick up a printed map to guide your day.
Each garden is different. Postage-stamp sized gardens demonstrate excellent examples of what is possible in a small space. Others exhibit the power of terracing to capture views and growing areas. There are examples of native plantings, while others focus primarily on food production. Our tour includes shade-dappled groves, sunny patios, wind caressed hillsides and public green spaces brimming with inspiration. Each garden has something very special: the fingerprints of the gardener or gardeners who keep it.
In short, what to expect on the day of the tour? A whole lot of delightful garden surprises. Enjoy the day.
